Tax and Engineering Professor Terry L. Turnipseed

Professor Terry L. Turnipseed has taught law and engineering at the Syracuse University College of Law in New York since 2004. His teaching interests include estate and gift taxation, gift planning, wills and trusts, and nuclear energy law and policy. Prior to beginning his teaching career, Terry L. Turnipseed spent the earlier part of his career in Washington, DC, where he served as Special Assistant to the President and Manager of Policy Initiatives at the Nuclear Energy Institute, followed by employment at the United States Department of Energy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy.

Terry Turnipseed practiced law at several firms, including Shaw, Pittman, Potts, and Trowbridge; Winston & Strawn; and Covington & Burling. He also worked in the National Tax Office of Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he gained expertise in estate planning and taxation. In addition to his teaching responsibilities in Syracuse, he also serves as a wealth management and estate planning consultant. He holds a JD and LL.M. in taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, and also studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Mississippi State University.
